Bruichladdich is Gaelic for corner of the beach or gentle slope of the sea. Built in 1881, by brothers Robert, William and John Gourlay Harvey, it boasts the character of being a 'working whisky museum'.
Famously known for being the first distillery on Islay to grow their own barley in 2004 for its esteemed single malts. Having gone through multiple owners, it now is bought and operated by Rémy Cointreau in 2012, who has seen it's continual growth of barley on the Islay and their heavily peated whiskies.
