Formerly known as the Hokkaido distillery, Yoichi was one of the first Nikka distilleries and dates back to 1934. It is built in the town of Yoichi on the islands of Hokkaido, the northernmost of Japan's main islands. In the environment and natural resources, the position of Yoichi emulates the conditions found in Scotland. In 1982, Yoichi released their first single malt whisky and in 2008, the 20 Year Old Yoichi claimed the Gold of the World's Best Single Malt.
This award-winning expression is very much loved by the Japanese whisky enthusiasts and has quickly become a top collectible by whisky lovers worldwide. Yoichi's signature single malt expression is full-bodied with soft peat creeping through. The palate is firm and powerful, a well-balanced burst of peat, smoke and spices. The finish will leave a multifaceted sprinkle of flavours from ripe fruits to a salty finish of coastal freshness.
