ABOUT THIS WHISK(E)Y

The first of (hopefully) many barrel experiments for the freshly launched Glenglassaugh. This expression takes the fruity young scotch Glenglassaugh has become famous for and pairs it with the heavy influence of port pipes.

Some distillers expressions get totally absorbed by the port, the fruity malt of Glenglassaugh is not so, shining through valiantly.

5 Love the port The port in this! Wow! not only does it make the juice an amazing pink hue, it brings out zaps of freshness in the mouth and especially on the nose. Sugary and spicy, almost like if bakery hill took a dip into port
5 Light & Tasty It’s young and the finish effect is light in terms of the usual port notes but it’s very rounded and is a nice tipple.
5 Weird notes - Loved em though Sweet, malty and citrusy. Little bit floral and very strong on the port strawberry flavour. Nutty and cakey. Weird adventure, im glad to have gone on
5 Is that cherry? I keep getting cherry? Is no one else getting it? The whole tables looking at me like a cherryripe bar. Either way, thoroughly enjoyed by present company. Would recommend!
5 Little Too Young I usually wont give two thoughts about NAS drops. clearly I'm right to, sharp, dry and bitter throughout the mouth. The one thing that saves this from a 1 star is a nice stout beer note somewhere in there i've never had before
5 Looks like Rosé Clearly a good start when your favourite wine and your whisky are looking more and more similar. Couldnt tell you why, but i loved it. heaps to it, not to sharp, not too spicy. great whiskey
5 Im thinking honey on toast No clue why but i cant shake honey on toast through this whole whisky. Its malty, its sharp but in good ways, its bringing out sweet fruits. Its gone down very well
5 Amazing scotch i love this whisky. i was lucky enough to try the peated one not too long ago too. theyre both amazing. love what this distiller is doing. their young spirit very much reminds me of some of the new make coming out of tassie. very tasty scotch, would recommend buying it but i'm pretty sure i just bought them out!

5 My First and my Favourite I am new to the world of whiskies, and received my first whiskey loot delivery just before Easter. I am trying to get a taste for whiskey and though this was the best way. I love the packaging, the free chocolates this month (excellent!), the thoughtful tasting notes and journal.I tried this one first. Oh my, I enjoyed it. I'm very new to this, so please excuse my ignorance. It smelt of oak, with a hint of smoke. This swells into toffee/honey, with spice. The taste is strong - still sweet but with strong oak, coffee and a touch of smoke. Burns a little. Not overly complex, oak seems to dominate.Easier drinking with water, but more acidic and less enjoyable.Drinkng Glass: Norlan
5 Light and Sweet Fruity smell initially. Light and less sweet than others. Easier to drink, but no stand out flavours.Interesting linger - hint of peppermint and orange.Much nicer with a few drops of water (maybe I'm not used to 46 % ABV). Becomes sweeter and less acidic. Can taste it in the mouth for a long time after drinking.
5 Fruit & Spice Wow nice fruit first and then a spicy punch. This one was a surprise for me. Not a fan of Glenglassaugh normally but man does this win me over. It is smooth yet spicy and reminds of an apple crumble or something similar that combines nice fruity flavors with spice
5 Fruity A fruity young scotch but falls short of its competitors.
5 Wow Just a fabulous jammy, oily and fruit forward ruby port pipe expression. Belies its years, plenty of ginger warmth amd berry conserve and a fabulous rose gold hue.
