Tamdhu Distillery

Tamdhu 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Reborn in 2013 Tamdhu has recaptured Speyside sherry flavours immediately. Now a strong contender for the likes of Glenfarclas and Macallan. Every cask used for ageing is either first or second fill, to preserve a strong sherry influence. The care given to barrel selection is clear.

Tamdhu 10 recently launched as a swan song to old fashioned aging styles. Using entirely first and second fill sherry casks to get a solid balanced influence. The whisky is an exploration of how sherry can be integrated into scotch with great effect, all while remaining controlled and not overstated.

Until recently the distillery was an industry secret, almost being exclusively used in blends like Famous Grouse, J & B and Cutty Sark. New ownership saw new potential though, as the distillery has only commenced bottling their own single malts as of 2017. Current 10yo is the highest available variety on the Aussie market. So drink up!

5 Drink as it is. No ice, no water, just sit back and relax and let the enjoyment and flavour of this beauty roll over you. Smooth with hints of honey a joy.
5 Overall, it's great! The Tamdhu 10-year-old Speyside is a classic and well-priced dram. I am a big fan of sherry cask whiskies and this one did not disappoint with vanilla, caramel and brown sugar on the nose and palate. The finish isn't as long as the cask strength bottle, but still a great little whisky to enjoy with friends. The actual bottle is very aesthetically pleasing too and makes an attractive addition to my drinks cabinet.
5 Gorgeous Lovely malt whisky, very tasty indeed and the bottle is really nice, felt a shame to throw it away!
5 For whisky drinkers. This is a pleasant and delicate sherried whisky. Not very complex but rather straight down the line. Easy to drink with all the delicious sherry flavours an aficionado loves. BUT - in no case use any water!
