When you think American whiskey – one state leaps to mind: Kentucky. But there are distilleries producing delicious spirit dotted all over the United States, with Balcones found in the Lone Star State of Texas. You might instantly think of Bourbon or Rye, but American Single Malt is beginning to make a name for itself, and here at Whisky Loot we can see why. 

Balcones Distilling, the first Texas whiskey since Prohibition, began in a former welding shop under a bridge in Waco. Today, more than a decade later, Balcones is known worldwide for making authentic Texan spirits from grain to glass. In 2014, Balcones Distilling moved into a new home, the old Texas Fire Proof Storage Co in downtown Waco. Master Distiller Jared Himstedt leads a team of Texas distilling pioneers who challenge tradition and bring the original spirit of Texas into the world.
