Benriach is situated slap bang in the heart of Speyside and produces high quality single malts in the traditional of this legendary scotch whisky heartland.
This particular dram is the second cask strength release Benriach have offered to market, It is taken from a selection of bourbon, Oloroso and virgin oak casks filled in 2006, 2007 & 2008 making it somewhere between ten and twelve years old.
It is served at cask strength and with no chill filtering, water, or colour addition meaning you have the chance to sample a classic Benriach straight from the vat in its unadulterated state.
If that is a little daunting, it shouldn’t be. This is a full body whisky, rich and zesty with layers of flavour. It is like a compilation of everything that is good about Benriach single malts which is why it has received rave reviews across the board.
The high ABV means this isn’t a whisky to glug down. Some say it needs water but for me it offers most when neat in a glass. It is one to nose frequently, sip occasionally, and really savour.

Rich and zingy with toffee apple and vanilla competing with fresh lemonade, orange peel, and a grated ginger spike.
Spicy, sweet and complex. Lots of picked ginger, citrus fruit, green coconut and floral undertones. But this is complimented by a rich sweetness with hints of crème caramel, peanut butter and sugar almonds.
Long and spicy with the new oak casts more prevalent here.
