Truly a dram made in the spirit of collaboration, Mornington Peninsula Brewery initially used some of Chief’s Son’s old whisky barrels to produce a Russian Imperial Stout. The brewery felt that the intensity of the beer’s flavours pushed it beyond Stout territory, and firmly into the realm of Porter. They also claimed it was “the best beer we’ve ever made”.
Once they were done, the casks were given back to Chief’s Son, and they aged some of their whisky in them. Isn’t it nice when things work out? The final result was this beautifully chocolaty and rich Aussie single malt.
