One of the jewels in the Buffalo Trace crown, E.H. Taylor Small Batch is “bottled-in-bond”, meaning that it is at least four years old, 50% and the product of one distilling season. Considered amongst the most consistent and delicious Bourbons around, this is not one to miss out on.
E.H. Taylor takes its name from an industry legend, Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor Junior, who purchased the O.F.C. distillery (a forerunner to the modern Buffalo Trace) after the American Civil War. Taylor introduced several innovations to the industry that continue to be used to this day, including: perfecting the sour mash, column stills, and steam heated warehouses.
He was also a canny politician, serving as Mayor of Frankfort (where Buffalo Trace is found) for 16 years. Taylor’s most lasting achievement was the Bottled-in-Bond act, which regulated the then questionable standard of Bourbon. Fittingly, this whiskey is bottled-in-bond.

Fresh oak and wood polish, with beautiful aromas of prickling pepper, warm leather, subtle rye spice, fresh apples and caramel. Some brightening flowers appear after a while.
Things go nuts on the palate - coconut, brazil nuts and hazelnuts take hold, with further notes of cinnamon spice, rich new oak and chewy cornbread. Perfectly balanced.
Medium length, with more of those Bourbon oak spices, black pepper and a lingering rich vanilla-oak flavour. Terrific juice.
