Another “big brother” bottling in the BTAC – this expression sits as a more premium version of the beloved Stagg Jnr. Bourbon, itself a very fine whiskey.
George T. Stagg himself was an incredibly significant figure, not just in the history of Buffalo Trace, but of the Bourbon industry as a whole. A former captain in the Union army, Stagg and EH Taylor together created the foremost distillery of Bourbon’s Gilded Age – the late 19th century. Then known as OFC (Old Fashioned Copper) Distillery, the site was a precursor to today’s Buffalo Trace.
A contemporary source acclaimed OFC as “one plus ultra of its class”. In 1900, the distillery was named after Stagg, as a reflection of the impact he had in his leadership.
This bottling is a fitting tribute to the great man – a full blooded, uncompromising Bourbon of relentless quality.

Immediately rich and inviting, with toasty aromas of fresh rye bread, orange blossom, vanilla, apricots, honey nougat, pecan pie and cigar box.
Creamy and warming – the strength of this dram is instantly apparent with intense allspice and black pepper. S’more-like with charred marshmallows and a chocolaty richness.
Long with lingering flavours of marmalade, charred oak, toasted chestnuts, crème brûlée. Some of the nose’s tobacco leaf returns, with a little drying leather.
