A single malt from the Glencadam Distillery, that celebrates Andalucia, the home of Sherry production. American oak has been used in conjunction with Oloroso Sherry casks, meaning the spirit itself a more restrained sherry influence than many whiskies. The result is arguably a dram of better balance. Glencadam is found close to the Scottish hamlet of Unthank, but we reckon you’ll be thankful for this one!
Found towards the Eastern Coast of Scotland, Glencadam is just beginning to step out of the shadows as a single malt – though the distillery is approaching its 200th birthday.
The Highland distillery produces a spirit of a floral, fruity character, created by a distillation regime that maximises copper contact and reflux (spirit that returns to the still to be distilled again). With maturation, the whisky reveals a deep, silky profile, especially in Sherry casks.
This particular bottling honours Andalucia, a region of Southern Spain that contains Jerez – the undisputed home of Sherry. Fittingly, this juice displays plenty of Sherry character, although with a lighter touch than the so-called “Sherry Bombs”.

At first, gentle prickle of Sherried spice: cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon. These aromas subside to reveal bright toasty malt, a little oak and honeyed apples.
A rather supple maltiness takes hold, bringing with it honeyed sweetness and soft oak. Sherry takes a backseat, but is detectable with notes of dried fruits, baking spices and red berries.
Short, but not lacking in character, with bright notes of sultanas, figs and Sherried oak.
