Named not after a political institution, but after the fact that there’s a “Parliament” of rooks who have made their home in the trees close to GlenDronach distillery. The spirit itself has been aged for no less than 21 years in a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks, producing a seriously rich and decadent dram. Delicious whisky, and a lesson in collective nouns, this bottling has it all!
GlenDronach only really took its deserved place as a front-line single malt in the late noughties, when it was revived by Billy Walker (of the BenRiach fame). Billy swiftly went about raiding the deep GlenDronach reserves, discovering casks of delicious, weighty and well-Sherried whisky.
Under Walker’s ownership, the distillery quickly gained a reputation for producing some of the finest Sherry cask whisky around, and in 2016, was purchased by international spirits giants, Brown-Forman.
Despite this change of ownership, the distillery’s dedication to producing high quality single malt has not waned, as demonstrated by this superb 21 year old dram.
