A fabulously Sherried dram from The GlenDronach Distillery, which is tucked just outside the Speyside region. GlenDronach has an enviable reputation for selecting some of the very best Sherry casks in the business, as this dram (matured entirely in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso barrels) demonstrates. Revival was first released to celebrate the distillery’s return to action in 2009, and is a luscious, flavoursome whisky.
As the ornate label design suggests, The GlenDronach is an old fashioned distillery, producing an old fashioned style of whisky. First constructed in 1826, the distillery was rebuilt in its current, imposing Victorian form in the 1850s.
Strangely shaped stills help to reduce reflux during distillation, producing a thicker, weightier style of spirit that is perfectly suited to maturation in Sherry casks. This bottling, largely considered to be the distillery’s flagship expression, showcases the house style perfectly.
