Glenmorangie Lasanta is liquid gold in a glass. This dram takes its name from the Scots Gaelic meaning “warmth and passion”, and this is certainly a fitting title! The whisky has been aged initially in former Bourbon barrels made of Missouri Ozark oak. Lasanta is then finished in PX and Oloroso Sherry casks which impart aromatic, intense and sweet dried fruit flavours.

Glenmorangie are famous for their attention to detail when it comes to oak and Lasanta demonstrates this commitment perfectly. The barrels for this dram begin with the finest Missouri Ozark oak, which is left to air dry for two years, before being lent to American distilleries such as Jack Daniel’s and Heaven Hill.
Glenmorangie’s painstaking processes are worthwhile: the result is delicious whisky such as this bottling – a wonderful Sherried expression of their high quality single malt. Simply put, a dram that every whisky fan has to try.

Tasting notes
Nose
Opens with fragrant, sweet and nutty Sherry aromas, featuring caramelised citrus rind, sultanas, currants, a little dark chocolate and an undercurrent of sweet Bourbon oak.
Taste
Creamy and medium bodied, with warming spices of cloves and cinnamon joined by potpourri, raspberry jam, plums, cherries, walnuts and caramel sauce.
Finish
Long and velvety, with lip-smacking bittersweet cacao, toasted malt, lingering cinnamon, slightly drying oak and hazelnuts.

I really enjoyed the dark chocolate overtones I picked up from this sample, and hadn’t really noticed that as strongly in other drops.

It's fabulous and affordable
It's a fabulous and affordable single malt whisky. It's layered and complex enough for the whisky enthusiasts whilst being sweet with an unchallenging palate that wont put off the whisky curious or new to whisky generally.
