Unlike many distilleries in America which only produce one mash bill, this whiskey is a blend of two mash bills - one high on corn (around 75%) and the other high on rye (around 35%). The result is the best of both worlds, spicy rye and smooth sweet bourbon roundness.
Located well away from the Kentucky heartland of Bourbon, High West Distillery is situated just outside of Salt Lake City in Utah. The colder climate makes for a slower and more delicate maturation process. Being an American whiskey this does not mean it is short on flavour.

Fresh warm sawdust from the circular saw through a plank of cedar wood. Strong American oak characters of creme brulee, vanilla and a touch of coconut.
Starts with the softer sweeter characters of vanilla, creme caramel and toffee apple. The rye then quickly asserts itself with a vibrant peppery spice on the mid-palate.
Long, warm and satisfying with pleasant woody pepper and drying oak. A little fresh mint into the fade on the ending.
