A high quality non chill filtered Irish single malt whiskey from the Kinahan’s company. This dram is produced in small batches, with only around 30 first fill former Bourbon barrels making the cut. Kinahan’s, a brand first created back in 1779, found favour with the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, leading to it being labelled with the initials “L.L.” – and this bottling pays homage to the company’s extraordinary history.

Kinahan’s dates back to 1779, when the company was founded by Daniel Kinahan on Dublin’s Trinity Street. Kinahan’s spirit grew in popularity, and by the mid 19th century, was the preferred Irish whiskey of “Professor” Jerry Thomas, widely regarded as the leading cocktail bartender of his age.
Unfortunately, like many other Irish distillers, Kinahan’s suffered throughout the 20th century, eventually ceasing production in 1988. Thankfully, the Irish whiskey renaissance of the 2000s has meant a revival for Kinahan’s, with the company now back at the forefront of the business.

Tasting notes
Nose
Fresh and zesty, with aromas of bitter orange rind, tobacco leaf, chocolate coated hazelnuts, vivid American oak and salted caramel.
Taste
Quite rich and full, serving up heaps of chocolate, espresso and orchard fruit character, before a sweet and spicy oak profile takes hold, with cinnamon and black pepper.
Finish
Medium long finish, which possesses an intriguing array of herbal notes, including brightening mint and eucalyptus, followed by drying oak and orange juice.
