Kinglake Distillery was created with the vision of championing flavours of the local region combined with whisky-making heritage. O’Grady’s Stand is their signature dram, consisting of a mash bill of four different malts, three from Griffith NSW, together with heavily peated malt from the Scottish borders used sparingly. The resulting spirit is oily and rich, then matured in 50-litre ex-Bourbon barrels, allowing the unique Kinglake maturation climate to shine in this positively delicious dram.

Tasting notes
Nose
Rich notes come first, featuring dark chocolate and vanilla bean icecream with salted caramel topping. Underneath there is elegant complexity of fresh hay, cut grass and juicy ripe pears.
Taste
Red toffee apples combine with toasted coconut flakes, sticky date pudding and sweet roasted malt on the full-bodied palate. The tiniest puff of peat adds complexity, but never overly smoky.
Finish
Creamy vanilla and oak linger on the medium length finish, before drying out into spice notes of ginger, cinnamon and charred black pepper.
