Green Spot is an Irish single pot still whiskey which has been lauded by critics and showered with awards.
The single pot still method of distillation is unique to Ireland and involves using both malted and unmalted barley in the mash bill, which provides a unique “spiciness” indicative of this unusual style.
Green Spot itself can trace its history back to the late 1800’s, when Mitchell & Sons would deliver their empty wine casks to the Jameson distillery to be filled, then returned before being aged and then sold in the Mitchells grocery store in the heart of Dublin.
The modern day Green Spot is a no age statement mix of whiskies aged between 7 and 10 years. But it still manages to retain many of the unique flavors of the original green spot.
A nod to the past in a fabulous modern Irish whiskey with a great depth of flavor that can be enjoyed just as well neat as with a cube or ice or a splash of water.
