Frankfort, Kentucky,
Bourbon Whiskey
ABV: 45.2%
A Bourbon that is exceptional in every regard. This whiskey is distilled at the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. A “wheater” – wheat replaces rye grain in the mashbill for this Bourbon, resulting in a chewy mouthfeel and sweet richness, whilst paring back the fearsome spice.
Julian “Pappy” van Winkle proudly displayed a sign outside his distillery that read “No Chemists Allowed”. For Pappy, whiskey-making was an art – performed by hand using traditional techniques – rather than a science. This Bourbon is a testament to Pappy’s legacy: made in the old fashioned manner, and aged in the heart of the Buffalo Trace warehouses, it is a dram of a superlative quality.

Warm leather wafts out of the glass, with aromas of buttered popcorn, toffee, freshly zested orange, sandalwood and toasted ground cinnamon. Dark oak and subtle woodsmoke comes with time.
Oak tannins arrest the palate, with luscious vanilla and the same citrus from the nose. Sweet buttered cornbread with honey and faint woodsmoke emerge, with some subtle fruitcake.
Softer than the 15 year old, with caramelised orchard fruits taking precedence over spices. Dark chocolate, vanilla and sweet oak linger long after the spirit has disappeared.
We only deal directly with distilleries.
