Signatory Vintage’s perhaps unusual name dates back to the initial business plan – of having a notable person sign every bottle they produce. This rather impractical approach to packaging was soon abandoned, but what has sustained is the commitment to bottling excellent whisky.
Sig Vin, as the bottlers are affectionately known, are regarded as one of the foremost bottlers in Scotland. For this bottling, they’ve picked out a single cask from the Inchgower distillery in Speyside, which is said to produce the spiciest new make in the industry, whilst its waxy texture has become compared to that of Clynelish. Bottled at cask strength, this is a powerfully assertive dram that can take a splash of water.
Just 690 bottles were drawn from the single cask.

Complex and inviting, with a blast of Sherried dried fruits joined by lemon juice, red apples, vanilla custard, oak and chocolate-covered raisins.
An oily, rich mouthfeel serves up a freshly baked apple pie profile, with cinnamon, fresh pastry, nutmeg, cloves, brown sugar and caramelised apple. A little nuttiness comes with time.
Long and featuring all the earlier spice in abundance. Salted caramel, lemon zest and a lingering waxy-oak note add complexity and depth.
