Originally Dufftown produced a nuttier, spicier and maltier spirit in the classic Bell’s style, but the style has changed in recent years to become closer to the Speyside archetype: fruity and light. With this American oak maturation offering a rather restrained wood-influence, this bottling is a wonderful glimpse of the spirit itself.
The 2020 Special Releases saw two bottlings from the Dufftown site, the other being a ghost whisky from the closed Pittyvaich distillery, which operated as a sister producer to Dufftown for 18 years.
Dufftown is alive and kicking, and now a crucial part of Diageo’s popular Singleton range. The packaging of this Special Release, which features berries, ferns and Spey river Salmon, showcases the flavours and sense of place found in this juice.
