In 2006 Diageo, one of the biggest drinks companies in the world, took a look around and realised they had a few overlooked distilleries making delicious whisky. To rectify the situation, they launched The Singleton, a range that sources spirit from three of these neglected distilleries (Glen Ord, Glendullan and Dufftown) and offers it up in delectable single malt form.
Dufftown distillery has traditionally been a key part of the Bell’s blend, and is one of the largest distilleries in Speyside. As is typical for old Bell’s distillery, Dufftown makes a nutty, spicy style of spirit with a grassy undertone. Singleton is now in the top five best selling single malt brands in the world, and Dufftown Spey Cascade is a star of the show.

Old gold to the eye, Spey Cascade opens with fragrances of baked apple and pear, some burnt brown sugar, nutmeg and a touch of singed malt.
Light bodied and approachable, the palate is faithful to the nose, but added depth is to be found in the form of sherried raisins, prunes and figs, and a little candied orange rind.
Short and refreshing with a punch of bright hazelnut and gentle oak. This would make for an excellent introductory whisky.
