The Isle of Arran is situated on the Firth of Clyde and is often referred to as Scotland in miniature as it combines all the great features of the Highlands and the Lowlands.
This is arguably true of the Arran distillery too as it combines qualities from both regions in a whisky range that is still distinctly their own.
The Côte-Rôtie Cask Finish is a limited edition single malt which has proved a big hit. It has no age statement but consists of whisky that has matured in oaks casks before being selected by Arran’s Master Distiller for this bottling.
It was then finished in Côte-Rôtie red wine casks before being bottled at 50% ABV and without any chill filtering or colouring.
The result is a vibrant and enigmatic whisky which brings together floral notes and rich warm spices with dark fruity undertones in a compelling manner.
For a NAS whisky, this is extremely well balanced and remarkably complex. A dash of water or ice will bring out the best and leave you reaching for more.

Tasting notes
Nose
The red wine casks deliver bags full of dark red fruits and blackcurrant jam which blend well with the tang of oak spice and subtle floral hints.
Taste
Rich, rich, rich with dark chocolate, treacle, and dried fruit along with red berries and candied fruits from a high end department store. The oak spiciness remains but it is the sweetness that stays to the fore.
Finish
Medium length with the spiciness arriving late but lingering pleasantly.
