This dram might have a rather shocking name (apparently taken from a notorious unmarked lane in the Irish capital) but it’s a delicious, rich single malt. The single malt spirit has been for 13 years in former Bourbon barrels, before a finishing period in casks that previously held sweet Hungarian Tokaj wine.

Playing a leading role in the Irish distilling renaissance, Dublin Liberties take their name from the Liberties, a region of Dublin historically famous for distilling. They celebrate this history through the names of their whiskies, which reflect aspects of the Liberties geography and history.
The “Murder Lane” in question was found between Bow Street (where the original Jameson’s distillery was located) and James Street (where Pearse Lyons distillery was found). Many men, women and children were said to have met their grizzly end on this lane. The spirit itself has been bottled at 46% and without chill filtration, for added depth and body.

Like a Lamington: fruity chocolate is accompanied by toasted coconut and almonds. Soft oak comes along with time, as does a little lifting lemon rind.
Turns tropical, with bright peach, pineapple and bananas joined by a little vanilla oak and sweet white grapes. Some grassy Irish malt pops up towards the finish.
Long. Caramelised apples and drying wine oak are prolonged on this delightful dram.
