A well-aged offering from the Knockdhu Distillery, which has been aged in former Sherry and Bourbon casks. 18 years of maturation has produced a wonderfully complex and flavoursome dram, with a rich spicy-fruity profile. AnCnoc 18 year old encapsulates the balance and weighty mouthfeel that typifies this distillery. Non chill filtered and full bodied at 46%.
Knockdhu Distillery dates back to the end of the 19th century, when it was founded to produce malt whisky for the famous Haig’s range of blends. The location was chosen for its plentiful high quality barley, fresh water springs and limitless supply of local peat.
These days the majority of their spirit is unpeated, but unlike most distilleries, they have retained their original stills meaning their whisky remains of a similar style to the first juice produced. Knockdhu renamed their whisky “AnCnoc” in 1994 to avoid any confusion with Speyside distillery Knockandu.

Buttered fruit toast accompanied by orange rind and honey. Some freshly baked biscuits – the overall impression is one of walking into a bakery on Sunday morning.
Here the vanilla takes hold, with rich waves of thick custard, ice cream and oak. Fudgy fruit emerges, followed by cinnamon, nutmeg and currant buns.
A caramelised apple note appears in this lengthy finish, with toasted malt and oak lingering long on the tastebuds.
