Wonderful!
Awesome dram has a nice kick great with a cigar .
GlenDronach's first ever peated scotch and maybe the perfect entry point for a Peat Doubter. The peat does not overshadow the GlenDronach flavour we've come to love, it instead compliments it, adding a unique variation and appreciable depth.
Highlands REGION
Peated Single Malt
ABV: 46%
The distillery is famous for keeping things traditional, being one of the few distilleries do malting and production on site. It shows as this malt pays homage to the distillers routes spectacularly.
This is technically the first heavily peated expression from the distiller in modern times. Built upon imported, heavily peated grain; the expression was made to be reminiscent of some of the heavily peated whiskies the distillery produced pre-war.
This expression was initially matured in bourbon casks before being transferred over to Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks, so it maintains some of the classic GlenDronach sherried kick, but with a wholly new interpretation.

The perfect peated whisky for non-peat lovers. Bright fruity highland flavours mix with a traditional GlenDronach sticky date pudding, citrus and sherry character, before it all, melts into a gentle smoke. The peat is present but not as much as the surrounding fruity, malty complexity.
Oily in the mouth, so dense with character. Creamy and buttery with subdued peat. Leading its way through cinnamon, pepper, woody spice, with dense honey and raisin. Yet all balanced with the floral character of a younger spirit.
Sweet on the finish, like a fruit and nut bar. With the addition of lasting burnt heather and a return of fruity honey. The perfect starting point on a peated adventure.

Superb value and interesting flavour from this Speyside distillery. This may be NAS scotch, but looking at the colour and from the taste and legs in the glass, I'd say this is a minimum of 8 years old.
Wasn't expecting to like to over Lagavulin 16 but i do think this is better for my tastes in that the peat in more pungent.
